In February 2013, the Djibouti regime proclaimed itself winner of the legislative elections. Important demonstrations took place to contest the election proceedings. These demonstrations were violently repressed. Since then, the political and judical repression against political opponents, independent journalists and human rights defenders continues and has even intensified thes past few months.Zakaria Abdillahi, President of the Djiboutian League for Human Rights (LDDH), who was himself arrested on 23 January 2014 and detained for 5 days, updates us on the current situation in Djibouti.
